The horizontal double-break disconnector is made up of three poles. Each pole consists of a frame, two supporting insulators at each end, and one rotating insulator in the centre that contains the main blade
The frame is made of a M S steel with the bearing housing and turntable installed in the centre. Two roller bearings support the turntable. To ensure a long lifetime, the bearing housing is sealed and filled with grease. The disconnector's steel components are all hot-dip galvanised.
The disconnectors can be equipped with insulators in accordance with required specifications of porcelain solid core insulator as well as Polymer Insulators . High quality insulators are used to perform long time duration .
The main blade is made up of two fixed contacts that are mounted on the supporting insulators and a moving blade that is mounted on the rotating insulator. The main contacts are housed within the main blade. They're made of copper and have a silver-plated finish. Each contact finger has stainless steel springs to ensure consistent contact pressure. Because the contacts are self-cleaning, the disconnector is suitable for installation in areas with harsh climatic conditions. Moving Contact play important role in disconnectors; their proper operation keeps isolators in good working order.
Isolator disconnectors and earthing switches are three-pole devices with either a motor-operated or a manual-operated drive mechanism. When only one drive mechanism is used for three-pole operation, the poles are linked together using adjustable coupling rods. The auxiliary contacts for position indication are also housed in the drive mechanism.
